About

Paul Turpin; audio engineer/owner/operator of Champion Street Sound Studios.

Paul is an accomplished sound engineer with decades of experience in the industry. His passion for music and dedication to creating an inclusive environment make Champion Street Sound Studios a unique space for artists. He also has very excellent “supportive dad vibes”.

Originally founded as Bayside Recording in 1994; the studios were designed with impeccable attention to technical details and audio optimization. Over the span of several decades the studio(s) have been fortunate to record, mix and master a myriad of Essential Bellingham Sounds. From Idiot Pilot to Millie and the Mentshn, The Trucks, Black Eyes and Neckties, The Lowest Pair, and more (so many more) Paul has been producing and perfecting the art of audio engineering across all genres.

Around 2010; driven by a vision to create a recording studio that prioritizes artistic exploration and a supportive atmosphere for all musicians- Bayside Recording divested itself of problematic engineers (IYKYK) and shifted to become Champion Street Sound Studios.

Paul’s partner in life and crime (jk, no crimes) Krissa- encouraged him to cultivate a more intentional “no douchey bro engineers” policy; a policy that continues through today. With carefully vetted engineers and ongoing upgrades both aesthetic and technical (and snacks in the lounge)- at Champion Street Sound Studios you’ll feel supported, inspired, and ready to take your projects to the next level.
